Looking for model

I am looking for models to continue my series of headless nude portraits. This is a series of paintings I’ve worked on occasionally in the past few years. It was intended as a means of exploring our sense of identity – how much of our personality is conveyed by our bodies and body language, and how much by our choice of clothing.

I should add that this call for models is not a paid assignment. I can only cover expenses, and might be able to throw in a few jaffa cakes 😁 It’s really intended for someone who has an interest in the project, who can contribute something towards it.

The whole purpose of this exercise is for the model to determine the pose – to choose how they presents themself. Ideally I would want any prospective model to be able to visit my studio in London, so I could make some drawings. I would then be able to take a reference photo, with which I could complete the painting.

If you’re at all interested, please get in touch. My email address is on my contact page.

Creating a Portrait

initial drawings

I recently had a callout for volunteers to pose for portraits. These are some images from the sitting I arranged with the first volunteer. I think they give a good idea of how I set about making a portrait.
I start with initial drawings, and once I’m happy with the pose and lighting, I commence with the painting. This painting is still in its early stages, but I’ll be able to finish it now using reference photos I took in the sitting.

First marks on canvas
Still early days, but the structure is there now.

This is an ongoing project, and I’m always on the lookout for volunteers. If you can get to my studio in London SE12 and can spare a few hours to pose, please do get in touch.
